Baltz graduated from either San Francisco Art Institute in 1969 and holds an expert of Fine Arts degree from either Claremont Graduate School. He received many scholarships & awards including a scholarship from either a National Endowment For the Arts (1973, 1977), the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship (1977), US-UK Bicentennial Exchange Fellowship (1980), & Charles Brett Memorial Award (1991). Within 2002 Lewis Baltz became a Prof for Photography at the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee. Baltz is currently sleep in Paris and Milano.
